MICRO-35 Call for Participation
The 35th Annual IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Microarchitecture
Istanbul, Turkey, Nov. 18-22, 2002

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleague:
We would like to remind you that the early registration deadline is less
than two weeks away for the 35th Annual IEEE/ACM International Symposium on
Microarchitecture (MICRO-35), which will be held at the Hilton Istanbul
Hotel, November 18-22, 2002, Istanbul, Turkey. We advise you to make your
reservations at the Hilton Istanbul Hotel as soon as possible, since space
is limited. Exceptionally low rates are available at this established
five-star hotel, for MICRO-35 attendees.
MICRO-35 has received an unprecedented amount of support for travel grants
for students and junior faculty this year, thanks to generous corporate
donations and to the National Science Foundation. We will be able to offer
many travel grants. Students and junior faculty are especially encouraged to
register for MICRO-35 and to apply for support. Also, thanks to IBM Turk and
the IEEE Turkey section, we will make deep registration discounts available
to selected students and faculty from universities in Turkey. The online
application deadline for student/faculty support is October 21.
MICRO-35 is the premier scientific conference on microprocessor design and
microarchitecture. This year, MICRO will feature outstanding keynote
speakers from IBM and Intel:
Systems Trends and their Impact on Future Microprocessor Design Tilak
Agerwala, Vice President, Systems, IBM Research Right Hand Turn for Power
Efficient Computing Justin R. Rattner, Intel Fellow and Director,
Microprocessor Research MICRO-35 will include 6 tutorials on exciting topics
of current interest: asynchronous and partially asynchronous microprocessor
design, thermal management in microprocessors, compilation for the Itanium,
network processors, and microarchitecture simulation tools. There will also
be 4 cutting-edge workshops, on EPIC architectures and compilers, media and
stream processors, multithreading, and application-specific processors. The
MICRO-35 technical program is of very high quality as usual this year, and
features 36 papers selected from 150 submissions.
Istanbul is a jewel of a city, combining the magnificent istorical treasures
of past civilizations with the life of a modern metropolis. Besides the
architectural marvels of St. Sophia and the Blue Mosque, Istanbul's rich
cultural heritage offers countless Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman historical
sites. Please take a look at the Istanbul photo gallery on our Web site.
Through the social program at MICRO-35, we will try to give you a glimpse of
the cultural richness of Istanbul.
The early registration deadline is Friday, October 25. Again, we suggest
making your online hotel reservations at the Hilton Istanbul as soon as
possible, since space is limited. Please consult our conference web site
http://www.microarch.org/micro35/ for online registration, hotel
reservations and more information about MICRO-35 and Istanbul. We hope to
see you in Istanbul in November!
